Peraza (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. Peraza has been on the injured list since suffering a shoulder injury in February, but he began a rehab assignment May 7. Most recently, he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his only contest with Triple-A, where he will now remain for the time being. The organization will likely allow the 23-year-old to find his footing with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before ultimately elevating him to the major-league roster down the road.... See More ... See Less

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Headed to Triple-A
Peraza (shoulder) was transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to continue his rehab assignment Saturday. Peraza went 2-for-16 with two solo home runs, four runs scored and a stolen base over 16 at-bats in five games with Double-A Somerset, and he'll now advance to the final step of his recovery from the shoulder injury he suffered in February. The 23-year-old could return to the Yankees at some point during their four-game series with the Mariners beginning Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Rehab moving to Double-A
The Yankees transferred Peraza (shoulder) from Single-A Tampa to Double-A Somerset on Friday. Peraza went 2-for-5 with a homer, two walks and three runs in two games at Single-A and will now move his rehab assignment to the Double-A level. The 23-year-old suffered a shoulder injury in late February and was shut down in early March, so he likely still needs a significant number of at-bats in the minors before being cleared to come off the injured list.... Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Beginning rehab assignment
Peraza (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday. Peraza is finally ready to test things out in a game setting after working his way back from a right shoulder strain which he initially suffered back in late February. Given how much time he's missed, he will presumably require more than a handful of rehab games. Peraza also isn't a given to immediately be added to the big-league roster, although the status of DJ LeMahieu (foot) will be a factor.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Weeks away from rehab assignment
Peraza (shoulder) has been hitting at the Yankees' complex in Tampa while continuing to progress through his throwing program, but manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that the infielder remains weeks away from playing in minor-league games, per MLB.com. Peraza's shoulder issue first cropped up Feb. 25 and was followed by renewed soreness after he attempted to return to Grapefruit League play March 5. He has been throwing regularly since the first week of April, so the team appears to be giving the 23-year-old ample time to fully recover. Peraza is one of three Yankees third basemen currently on the injured list, as DJ LeMahieu (foot) was pulled early from a minor-league rehab start Tuesday while Jon Berti (groin) has yet to begin a rehab assignment.... Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Will begin throwing Wednesday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on the Talkin' Yanks podcast Tuesday that Peraza (shoulder) will begin throwing Wednesday. Peraza is working his way back from a subscapularis strain in his right shoulder, but Boone expressed optimism Tuesday that it wouldn't take the infielder long to get ramped back up. With Oswaldo Cabrera off to a hot start, Jon Berti now around and DJ LeMahieu (foot) likely to beat Peraza back from the injured list, the latter could be sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre once he's healthy.... Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Moves to IL
The Yankees placed Peraza (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Thursday. Peraza is facing an expected recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks for a right shoulder strain, an injury that first cropped up in late February. Per MLB.com, manager Aaron Boone said last week that Peraza was expected to resume hitting soon, but it's unclear if the 23-year-old has advanced to that portion of his recovery program. Regardless, Peraza will be sidelined until around late April or early May, which likely gives Jahmai Jones a multi-week run on the active roster as a utility player.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Heading for more testing
Peraza will undergo additional testing on his right shoulder Friday, including dye-injected imaging, David Lennon of Newsday reports. Peraza returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing time with the shoulder issue, but renewed soreness resulted in a round of medical imaging. The 23-year-old is now going back for additional testing to help determine the specifics of the issue. There should be more clarity on Peraza's status once all the results come back.... See More ... Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Undergoing imaging on shoulder
Peraza is expected to undergo imaging on his right shoulder after reporting renewed soreness following a return to the lineup Tuesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. Peraza was playing in his first game in a week Tuesday but experienced a recurrence of the shoulder issue that's plagued him this spring. Yankees manager Aaron Boone told Sherman that he doesn't believe Peraza's injury to be serious, but more will be known after the test results are in. Peraza is competing for a spot on the Yanks' bench.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Back in action Tuesday
Peraza (shoulder) is starting at second base and batting fifth for the Yankees in Tuesday's game versus the Mets in his return to Grapefruit League play. Peraza missed a week of action with tightness in his right shoulder but is feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. The young infielder is competing for a spot on the Yankees' bench but could wind up back at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre so he can play every day.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Not ready to return yet
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Peraza is still feeling some "pinching" in his right shoulder, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. The team had been hoping Peraza could return to Grapefruit League action as soon as Friday, but he's not ready just yet. Boone doesn't believe the injury to be serious, but throwing is still problematic, particularly when Peraza would have to play third base. He's considered day-to-day.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Could return Friday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Peraza (shoulder) could return to Grapefruit League action as soon as Friday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. Peraza had to be scratched from the lineup Tuesday because of shoulder tightness, but he didn't require any testing and could wind up missing just a couple days of action. The young infielder is attempting to win a reserve role for the Yankees.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Goes deep Monday
Peraza went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk Monday in a 6-4 victory versus the Diamondbacks. Peraza came through with a big blast in the seventh inning, tying the score 3-3 with a 443-foot shot to left-center field. Arizona retook the lead in the following frame, but New York tied the game in the bottom of the eighth when Peraza walked with the bases loaded. The performance broke a seven-game stretch without an RBI for Peraza, who slashed .154/.214/.192 with a 39.3 percent strikeout rate over the cold stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Hits first homer of season
Peraza went 4-for-9 with a double, a home run, two runs and two RBI across both games of a doubleheader against the Red Sox on Thursday. Peraza notched two of New York's six hits in the matinee, though neither helped the team avoid a shutout. The infielder made more noise in the nightcap, coming home after a second-inning double and adding a two-run homer in the ninth that gave the Yankees some much-needed cushion. Peraza is in the midst of a modest seven-game hitting streak, during which he is slashing .379/.379/.586 with four extra-base hits, three runs and four RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Active for Game 2
Peraza (knee) will start at shortstop and bat seventh during Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox. Peraza has been dealing with swelling in his left knee, but he seems to be feeling well enough to return to the lineup after sitting the first game of Tuesday's action. The 23-year-old has had a quiet season in the majors overall, but he's gone 10-for-31 with four RBI since the start of September.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Could play during doubleheader
Peraza (knee) could be available to play at some point during Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Red Sox, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. Peraza is not starting the first game of the double dip, which is the second straight contest he's been absent from the lineup. The swelling in his left knee has gone down, though, and while it doesn't sound like he'll start the nightcap, he should be available off the bench. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is handling third base in the first game.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: On bench again Monday
Peraza is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox. Peraza has played regularly since rejoining the Yankees in late August, but he will be held out for a second day in a row with manager Aaron Boone turning to his left-handed hitters against Boston righty Kutter Crawford.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Takes seat Sunday
Peraza is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start at third base and bat sixth. Peraza has enjoyed a fairly productive week, but the 23-year-old carries a brutal .188/.278/.232 overall slash line in 126 major-league plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Not in lineup Thursday
Peraza is out of the lineup for Thursday's contest in Detroit, Erik Boland of Newsday reports. Peraza has taken over as the Yankees' regular third baseman since being promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week, but he'll begin the series finale in Detroit on the bench. Oswaldo Cabrera will occupy the hot corner as the Yankees go for the series sweep.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Heads to bench Monday
Peraza is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers. For the first time since being called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last Tuesday, Peraza will take a seat. He had started at either third base or shortstop in each of the past six games, going 2-for-20 with one walk against eight strikeouts. Oswaldo Cabrera will get the starting nod at the hot corner in Peraza's stead Monday, but both players could see ample opportunities on the left side of the infield down the stretch while the non-contending Yankees shift their focus to evaluating some of their younger players....
