Muncy (oblique) said Sunday he's been shut down from swinging for the past 7-to-10 days after he felt a "twinge" around his rib cage, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Timesreports. The 33-year-old landed on the injured list in mid-May with the oblique strain and doesn't appear to have made significant progress in his recovery. Per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, Muncy was able to field groundballs Sunday but is shut down from most baseball activities, so he's likely not particularly close to rejoining the Dodgers.... Dodgers' Max Muncy: Still not swinging
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Muncy is on a "slow program" due to lingering oblique soreness and isn't currently swinging a bat, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. Muncy resumed baseball activities last Tuesday, but his progress has since been slowed by continued soreness in his oblique. The third baseman is already eligible to be activated off the IL, but given Roberts' comments, it doesn't seem like Muncy is on the cusp of returning. He'll almost certainly head out on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to rejoining Los Angeles' lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Return date uncertain
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Muncy is still feeling his oblique strain and will proceed cautiously, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Roberts had previously indicated that Muncy could start a rehab assignment soon with a potential return to the Dodgers coming next week, though he backed off on that statement Friday. The third baseman began doing some work in the field Tuesday, but Roberts indicated that Muncy won't progress to hitting off a tee until the team feels he's fully recovered. With that in mind, it seems unlikely that Muncy will be ready to return to the big club until at least early June.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Commences baseball activities
Muncy took some groundballs Tuesday as he started up baseball activities after his recent oblique strain, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The Dodgers placed Muncy on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain. According to manager Dave Roberts, Muncy sustained the strain in batting practice prior to Thursday's game. Before hitting the injured list, the third baseman was slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine home runs and 28 RBI over 167 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Placed on IL with oblique strain
The Dodgers placed Muncy on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain. Before landing on the IL, Muncy was slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine home runs and 28 RBI over 167 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -

It was his sixth career grand slam and fourth home run in his last three games, as he now has eight RBI over that span. Muncy is currently hitting .263, which is well above his career average, and overall is slashing .263/.370/.570 with nine homers, 26 RBI, 22 runs and a 19:40 BB:K in 138 plate appearances.... Muncy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. The 33-year-old launched three homers in Saturday's contest but will still sit Sunday as lefty Max Fried pitches for Atlanta. According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, manager Dave Roberts said Muncy's absence was planned prior to Saturday's contest, and the third baseman is expected to play in the next six contests.... Dodgers' Max Muncy: Slugs another home run
Muncy went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Padres. Muncy took Yu Darvish deep to right in the fourth to put the Dodgers ahead 3-1 and the offense would be shut out the rest of the way. That's now three home runs in his last four games and he's also managed to not strike out in consecutive games for the first time this year. Muncy has punched out multiple times in 11-of-16 games to begin the year and holds a strikeout rate of 37 percent, as he looks to level out that number as the season progresses.... See More ... Dodgers' Max Muncy: Goes deep in loss Friday
Muncy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Friday's extra-innings loss to San Diego. Muncy mashed one of four Dodgers homers in the contest, belting a solo shot to right field in the second inning. It was his third long ball of the campaign and second in as many games. Muncy's batting average (.255) has been better so far this season than in recent campaigns, but that may not hold if he continues to strike out at a poor 41.5 percent rate.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Cranks second homer
Muncy went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Twins. Muncy led off the fourth inning with a 400-foot solo shot off Chris Paddack, tying the game 2-2. It's the second homer of the year for Muncy, who's now batting .250 with a .756 OPS and eight RBI through 14 games this season. The 33-year-old third baseman figures to see plenty of RBI chances while batting behind Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani in the Dodgers' high-powered lineup.... See More ... See Less -
