Barno (knee) is has been participating at Carolina's OTAs in a limited fashion, Schuvier Calihan of SI.com reports. Barno saw an 11 percent increase in defense snaps through 15 games last season before suffering an ACL injury. He remains without a specific return day, but his limited work at OTAs, albeit capped, is promising at this point. Barno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Panthers' Amare Barno: Gets chance in Carolina
The Panthers selected Barno in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 189th overall. Barno spent two seasons at community college and barely played in his first season at Virginia Tech, but he lived in opponents' backfields over his final two college campaigns. The 6-foot-5, 246-pound edge rusher recorded 78 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks over 23 games (18 starts) in that stretch.
